Small companies may qualify for health care tax credit

The smallest companies may be eligible for a tax credit designed to encourage them to offer health insurance. The tax credit can be claimed by companies with fewer than 25 full-time-equivalent employees, provided that those workers earn an average of less than $50,000 per year. The credit has been available for a few years, but the IRS has just recently created a proposed rule for it.
