Wis. district to align field trips with curriculum

Officials in Green Bay, Wis., are reviewing policies regarding school field trips to ensure they are aligned with the curriculum and meet certain safety guidelines. Officials say the review is part of the district's transition to the Common Core State Standards. Field trip supporters say taking students out of the classroom helps them connect academic lessons in the real world, but school officials say they must ensure the time taken away from the classroom is worth the trip.
