Work on second platform starts for $3.9B Tappan Zee Bridge

Pile driving is starting this week on a 1,200-foot-long construction platform for the new $3.9 billion Tappan Zee Bridge over the Hudson River north of New York City. This is the second platform to enable crews to work from the water. Meanwhile, Tappan Zee Constructors is negotiating with some area residents regarding the installation of soundproofing for their windows and doors to cope with the pile-driving noise.
