Demand from hospitals drives growth in BSN programs

Hospitals are adopting hiring policies that call for new nurses to have bachelor's degrees and current employees to get the degrees, which is contributing to the growth of nursing degree programs for working professionals. Jackie Medland, chief nurse executive at Presence Saint Joseph Hospital in Illinois, says a bachelor's degree should become the norm. "We want to create an environment by which our nurses want to go and get more educated," she said.
