State board disagrees that more money is needed for Baltimore schools

Yesterday, the Maryland State Board of Education voted to appeal a Baltimore Circuit Court judge's order requiring the state immediately spend $30 million to $45 million on city schools. Last Friday, the judge said the state could not avoid its constitutional obligation to provide adequate funding by focusing on the district's mismanagement problems.
