American Express reports significant increases in airfare

According to the American Express Business Travel Monitor, the average, one-way, domestic airfare paid by the firm's clients increased 10% in the second quarter from the same period the previous year. The average fare came to $260, the highest in seven years. "As globalization continues to pull business travelers to international destinations, we advise our clients to focus on international travel-policy compliance," said Herve Sedky, an executive with American Express Business Travel's Global Advisory Services.
