ATA files protest against FAA refusal to delay slot auction

The Air Transport Association has filed a protest with the FAA, arguing that the agency needs congressional authority to carry out its planned auction next week of takeoff and landing slots at Newark Liberty International Airport. The ATA also pointed out that the FAA itself claimed for 20 years it had no authority to conduct such auctions, before reversing its position in 2006.
