SAT scores hold steady

Even as more disadvantaged students took the SAT, the average U.S. score held steady for the Class of 2008, with private and public school graduates posting an overall 1511 out of a possible 2400 points for math, reading and writing combined, the College Board said Tuesday. Previous scores had dipped following the College Board's implementation of a revamped version of the exam in 2005, which included the addition of a writing portion to the traditional math and reading sections.
