Bernanke gets opportunity to redefine Fed's mission

Economists said President Barack Obama's renomination of Ben Bernanke as chairman of the Federal Reserve gives the central banker a chance to make changes. "He will have the opportunity to permanently change the structure of the Federal Reserve System," said Vincent Reinhart, formerly director of the Monetary Affairs Division at the Fed. While Congress is working on overhauling the financial regulatory system, Bernanke is preparing for a larger oversight role.
