Can Bud be the Coca-Cola of beers?

Omnicom's DDB will take on the role of lead global agency for Anheuser-Busch InBev's flagship beer brand Budweiser, with an eye toward transforming the brew into a global icon on a par with Coca-Cola. Currently Bud has a high profile in many countries other than the U.S., but it is not widely available in Africa, for example, and in other parts of the world. Former CEO of Publicis, New York, Gill Duff, is joining DDB as global account director for the Bud brand.
