Clowns, video games help calm children before anesthesia

"Clown doctors" and video games can help calm and ease the fears of children facing anesthesia for surgery or a medical procedure, according to a review of 17 studies. The review, looking at alternatives to giving children drugs to calm them before surgery, found the presence of parents was neither harmful nor beneficial.
