FDA permits emergency use of swine flu test for troops overseas

The FDA has granted an emergency authorization to allow the U.S. Defense Department to distribute swine flu tests among U.S. troops abroad in order to expedite the diagnosis and treatment of H1N1 infections. The Defense Department by September will start distributing the diagnostic tests to combat units on Navy ships and in the Middle East.
