Nova Chemicals to postpone polyethylene price increase

Polyethylene producer Nova Chemicals has told customers that a 4-cent-per-pound price increase will be postponed by a month -- until Sept. 1 -- likely leading to more producers matching the competitive offer. Nova said factors such as crude oil prices and low inventories in the resin supply chain were driving the North American price increases, but buyers said feedstock markets and domestic demand were insufficient to warrant the increase.
