The Advancement Via Individual Determination program aims to boost the performance of average students and prepare them for college success. More than 750 students in seventh through 12th grade from nine schools are enrolled in the project in Florida's Brevard County school district. Last year, 100% of graduating participants went on to college. AVID, created by a national nonprofit, offers courses focusing on skills needed for college and life, and it holds students accountable for their performance.
