Bog gardens are an effective way to add diversity to a garden because they support an eclectic mix of plants and wildlife, says Robert Brzuszek, an expert in landscape design at Mississippi State. However, the bogs are not as deep as ponds and should basically be designed as a wet meadow, he notes. "They're like a sheet of water passing slowly through the environment," he says.
