Missouri veterinarian aims to cut numbers of unwanted horses

Missouri veterinarian Alison LaCarrubba is planning a horse sterilization clinic this fall as part of a mission to reduce the population of unwanted and neglected horses. The U.S. horse population has soared since the country closed slaughterhouses three years ago. The resulting drop in prices spurred more consumers to buy horses, and many now find they can't afford to keep them.
