U.S. is urged to consider gas when penalizing BP for spill

The Department of Justice should take into account the natural gas that leaked from BP's damaged Gulf of Mexico well when punishing the company for the disaster, according to environmental groups. The "law is clear" on the subject, said the National Wildlife Federation and the Natural Resources Defense Council. "There are strong scientific as well as legal reasons why the discharge of large quantities of hydrocarbon gas must not be ignored."
