Review finds high demand for primary care, internal medicine docs

Primary care providers and internal medicine professionals were the top two most requested providers in 2010-2011, according to a physician recruitment review performed by health consulting firm Merritt Hawkins. The development of patient-centered medical homes and accountable care organizations may have increased the demand for these providers as primary care practice "serves as the foundation for these emerging delivery systems," an official said.
