Construction progress picks up at $14B Ga. nuclear project

Modular construction of the $14 billion expansion of Southern Nuclear's Plant Vogtle in Georgia is progressing. "There is a certain simplicity in the way it's being done that sets the standard for nuclear construction," said Buzz Miller, Southern Nuclear executive vice president for nuclear development. The project is scheduled to achieve another milestone with the completion of "nuclear concrete" work this fall.
