TSMC leads R&D spending among Taiwanese firms, ministry says

Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing budgeted $753 million for research and development during the first half of 2013, a 17.45% increase from the same period in 2012, according to Taiwan's Ministry of Economic Affairs. The foundry led Hon Hai Precision Industry (the contract electronics manufacturer known as Foxconn), MediaTek, Innolux and HTC in R&D spending in the first half, the ministry reported.
