US Airways, AMR to challenge federal analysis of merger

US Airways and American Airlines plan to challenge federal regulators for ignoring low-cost carriers as competition in calculating the outcome of a proposed merger. "If the Justice Department defines Southwest and JetBlue out of the market, they’ve got to have good documentary and economic evidence to support that allegation," said Allen Grunes, a lawyer who has worked for the antitrust division of the Justice Department.
