For tech pros eying the chief exec seat, changing roles means new skills

The blurring lines between technology and business strategy are giving more tech executives a pathway to the role of CEO, but making the leap requires chief information officers to leverage new skill sets, such as relationship-building and improvised problem-solving, experts say. Executive coach Jan Marshall says that moving from a technical to a more people-centric management position often means letting go of process and feeling out solutions on the fly.
