Many Ohio charters fare poorly on state report cards

Ohio's charter schools have been controversial ever since their inception in 1998. After the state issued report cards earlier this week showing that almost half of northeast Ohio charter schools had earned "academic watch" or "academic emergency" ratings, a coalition of parents, teachers and others called for the end of public funding to the nontraditional schools.
