TiVo reports Q2 loss, subscriber gains

Digital video recorder maker TiVo reported a net loss of $10.8 million for the second quarter, compared with a net loss of $4.4 million during the same period last year. Although subscriber numbers rose nearly 80%, the majority of the new subscribers came through TiVo's deal with DirecTV, a trend analysts said was negative because the satcaster is launching its own DVR service next year.
