Half of Arkansas college students need remedial courses

Nearly 53% of Arkansas college students enroll in at least one remedial course in basic reading, writing and math, according to the Arkansas Department of Higher Education. The noncredit courses are designed to close the gap between what students learned in high school and what they need to know in college.
