3-D technology allows Ohio officials to scrutinize bridge

Three-dimensional computer technology allowed officials at the Ohio Department of Transportation to detect extreme stress to a lower chord on Cleveland's Inner Belt Bridge last year. The state quickly reduced the weight on the truss bridge and closed several lanes. The technology also helped convince officials to abandon plans to repair the bridge and to replace it instead.
