Accor mulls split of prepaid services, hotel divisions

French hotel giant Accor SA, in announcing a $214 million net loss in the first half, says it is considering dividing its prepaid services division from its main hotel operations to create two separate companies, an idea that has become increasingly favored by analysts as a means to boost the company's share price. The two divisions have become increasingly independent of each other and have limited common synergies, according to Accor Chairman and CEO Gilles Pelisson.
