UN: Australia's Aboriginal efforts reinforcing discrimination

Australia's interventions into remote Aboriginal communities have been discriminatory and further fuel social stigma against the community, United Nations Special Rapporteur on Indigenous People James Anaya concluded at the end of a 12-day visit to Australia. Anaya's assessment is expected to increase pressure on Australian authorities to review its efforts to address alcoholism, poverty and life expectancy concerns among the country's Aboriginal populations.
