California cat researcher wins feline research award

Leslie Lyons' work researching feline genetics and the origins of cat breeds at the University of California, Davis, won her the 2010 Winn Excellence in Feline Research Award. The award and its accompanying $2,500 prize was awarded at the AVMA's recent annual convention in Atlanta, along with the American Veterinary Medical Foundation's matching award to third-year veterinary student Adam Breiteneicher. The matching award goes each year to a student who demonstrates an interest in feline medicine.
