Goldman Sachs analyst: Google Voice is a threat to Facebook

A Gmail tool allowing users to make free calls to wireline phones and cell phones is likely intended to shake Facebook's lockdown on the social-networking market, according to a report by a Goldman Sachs analyst. "Google's ulterior motive is less about disrupting the telecommunications industry ... and more about driving engagement within Gmail and its social-networking activities, to better compete with social networks such as Facebook," the report asserts.
