Business models that help planners serve the middle market

Financial planners can serve the middle market -- defined as between $100,000 and $1 million in investable assets -- by focusing on efficiency, taking clients on with good income if not much wealth, developing modular plans and charging flat fees for services. "All industries as they mature develop efficiencies that substantially increase the quality and decrease the cost of providing their product or service to the mass market," writes Betty Meredith.
