Apple's victory over Samsung Electronics means that products that license the technology could carry a higher price tag as hardware-makers and carriers pass on their royalty costs to consumers. Industry observers said the verdict would solidify Apple's power in an industry where carriers are already chafing at the high subsidies they absorb from discounting Apple products to consumers. Analysts debated how the verdict would affect Android's future. "I am sure this is going to put a damper on Android's growth," said ISI Group analyst Brian Marshall. Google said the verdict would not affect most "core" Android elements.
