BIS group touts benefits of tougher OTC derivatives rules

A group of regulators and central bankers established by the Bank for International Settlements says in a study that benefits of tougher rules governing over-the-counter derivatives trading outweigh costs faced by banks. The group also encourages market participants to send as many OTC derivatives trades as possible through clearinghouses.
