Consultant IDs 8 anti-fraud questions to tackle ahead of ICD-10 switch

Improper payments and fraud are likely to worsen before the industry can take advantage of the benefits of ICD-10, and health groups should act now to address these issues, writes health care fraud consultant Julie Malida. Malida has identified eight anti-fraud questions that organizations should ask ahead of the ICD-10 changeover, starting with determining how reliable available information is and asking if there are errors in the mapping or intentional misrepresentations by billers.
