Gluten-free diet isn't recommended for weight loss, experts say

Registered dietitians and physicians have mixed views about the health benefits of going gluten free as a dietary choice or to lose weight rather than only as a treatment for celiac disease. The diet may help people with gluten sensitivity, but Norton Healthcare RD Deborah Eck says other people who want to try it should consult a dietitian or medical professional to ensure they get balanced meals. She added that FDA regulations on gluten-free food labels should help people make choices.
