ICDs show more promise in preventing sudden cardiac death

A review by the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality found that implantable cardioverter defibrillator treatment was associated with reduced all-cause mortality and reduced risk of sudden cardiac death. ICD treatment may have a quality-of-life benefit, but more studies are needed, the analysis found.
