Surgical risk calculator can score more than 1,500 procedures

Researchers at Northwestern University and the American College of Surgeons have created a surgical risk calculator that can predict the likelihood of mortality and poor outcomes for more than 1,500 procedures. The calculator is based on data from the ACS National Surgical Quality Improvement Program, and the CMS has said a risk calculator might be an alternative way to generate reimbursement under the Physician Quality Reporting System.
