White House political, economic teams at odds over budget strategy

President Barack Obama's top advisers are divided on how the president should approach the coming debate with congressional Republicans over the federal budget and debt ceiling. Obama's economic team is pushing for a comprehensive agreement to replace the current across-the-board budget cuts called sequestration. The president's political advisers warn that such a broad-based agreement with Republican leaders will be harder to sell to the party's rank-and-file on Capitol Hill.
