Community launches campaign against prescription drug abuse

The abuse of prescription drugs is "the leading cause of injury death in the U.S.," according to Janet Riley-Wright of the Alcohol and Drug Services of High Point, N.C. In conjunction with International Overdose Awareness Day on Aug. 31, her group and the Partnership for Community Care have launched a campaign in the Greensboro area to raise awareness of prescription drug abuse, and urge individuals to dispose of old or unused medication in special drop boxes across the region.
