West Virginia earns reputation as hot spot for climbing

Each year, thousands of rock-climbing enthusiasts head to the New River Gorge National River range to climb the 30- to 120-foot tall cliffs made up of Nuttall sandstone, which is particularly good for climbing. In addition to the rock, the area requires technical expertise and problem-solving skills. Because of this, some consider it to be the best place in the U.S. for climbing.
