Atlanta adopts ambitious plan for regional transit

The Transit Planning Board in Atlanta adopted an ambitious plan for regional transportation that calls for more than 500 miles of rail crisscrossing the city, and another 849 miles in bus routes. The transit plan is contingent upon voter approval of a one-cent increase in the regional sales tax, but a telephone survey last year indicated 58% of Atlantans would approve such a measure.
