CTIA, Qualcomm: Auction, license "white space" channels

As the FCC nears a decision on the status of the so-called "white space" spectrum surrendered by broadcasters, CTIA-The Wireless Association® and Qualcomm are advocating that the FCC auction off and license the frequencies as a way to prevent signal interference across long distances. "There's high demand for licensed spectrum," said Paul Garnett, CTIA's assistant vice president of regulatory affairs.
