Super-small details make the difference on Qantas super jumbo

As Australian airline Qantas prepares to take delivery of its first Airbus A380 next month, designer Marc Newson and his team have been busy with everything from seat width to plate design. Although he designed everything from doorknobs to bathroom fittings to color schemes, it was the economy-class seats that proved one of his biggest challenges. To squeeze an extra inch of legroom into economy class, Newson worked with German manufacturer Recaro to develop a slimmer seat back that provides extra pitch without requiring extra spacing between rows.
