E-Verify requirement is legal, court rules

A federal district court has ruled that a regulation requiring government contractors to verify the employment eligibility of their workers is legal. The court decision will allow the government to implement the rule that authorizes the E-Verify system. On Sept. 8, all contractors who receive federal contracts for more than $100,000 must use the Web-based system to certify the eligibility of employees who work on the projects.
