NICE: Safety data not sufficient to OK mitral valve repair

The U.K.'s National Institute for Health and Clinical Excellence declined to recommend percutaneous mitral valve leaflet repair, a procedure used to treat mitral regurgitation, for routine use in the country because of insufficient data about its safety and effectiveness. The technique is one of the six interventional procedures assessed by NICE.
