Coveted consumers exit the supermarket

Traditional grocers are losing market share, particularly in coveted sections of the population, including Hispanics, baby boomers and shoppers earning more than $100,000 annually, according to SymphonyIRI Group. Although supermarkets are still the top venue for grocery shopping, they are losing market share to dollar stores, club stores and supercenters.
