Undersea cable failure causes Internet outages in the U.K.

An undersea cable between the Netherlands and the U.K. was apparently severed over the weekend, causing widespread service outages among ISPs in the U.K. for more than 24 hours. In a statement to its customers, O2 reported that "the recent routing issues causing unreachable destinations from our network are caused by a major fiber breakdown."
