Execs identify hurdles of U.S. reactor projects

Inexperience of some suppliers and new licensing procedures are among the challenges faced by reactor construction projects in the U.S., utility officials said. Finding suppliers that meet the Nuclear Regulatory Commission's standards has been a challenge because of the decades-long pause in nuclear construction, said Jeffrey Lyash, president of the power plant business unit for Chicago Bridge & Iron, which is a contractor for reactor projects in Georgia and South Carolina.
