Norwegian researchers found that about 1 in 5 children and adolescents, and 1 in 4 females, with type 1 diabetes exhibited disturbed eating behavior. Data on the 11- to 19-year-olds also showed that 28.9% of overweight patients and 38.1% of those who were obese had DEB. "It is recommended that adolescents with [type 1 diabetes] should be routinely and annually screened for disordered eating behavior," researcher Line Wisting says.
