How remembering elementary school can improve your e-mails

When you're young, getting a letter in the mail was a captivating experience and e-mail marketers should try to emulate that, HubSpot's Tom Monaghan says. It's also important to remember another school-taught rule: Letters get a greeting, some content and a closing. Other best practices include sending less e-mail, being respectful of customer time and e-mail permissions they grant, and placing a higher value on replies than clicks or open rates.
